Matt's is the perfect "early bird" breakfast spot! They even serve $5 meals in the morning. Great food, tiny space.

Now this place is a true local dive. But if you catch them on a Friday Night Fish Fry, they are hopping. The fish is good and many times on the weekends, they have volleyball tournaments going on out back. Plus, it's only a few miles from the retreat.

Now, I've never been. I've been wanting to go for awhile now. But the place is always packed and I've heard the food and beer selection is pretty good. This place is in Grayling, which is about 15 miles up the road.

I know it's a bit of a drive. But this park is beautiful! It has a shallow river running through it, a covered bridge, playfort for days and many places for a memorable picnic. This is a perfect place for photos!

There is a large park down this road. It has a dog park, zipline for the kids, huge play structures, a running track all around it, restrooms, picnic tables and huge open places to fly kites.

Bob's is the place to go for your meats! The guys are very knowledgeable. The prices can be a bit higher then normal. But they are not bad. Bob makes many brat mixes during the summer season. They have unique items too. Frog legs, crab, lobster tails, cheeses, etc.

If you like high quality produce and meat, then this is your shop. The store cleanliness and staff friendliness is outstanding. They have many hard to find items and make some awesome summer salads and dips.

This is an "open air" farmer's market. I love this place! They are priced well and sell many homemade items too. About 20 miles from the retreat. (everything in northern MI is a drive)
