Sazio restaurant in Harpenden enjoys an idyllic setting in the middle of the historic high street, a particularly attractive location for this vibrant, stylish restaurant. With broad, many-paned windows and historic frontage, Zaza's sleek, modern dining room with its wooden floors, bold artwork, and contemporary lighting comes as a delightful surprise. The freshly prepared Italian menu features authentic ingredients imported from Italy, so you know the flavours are true. The menu includes home made pastas and stone oven baked pizzas, grills and salads, with an emphasis on fresh fish dishes. International wine list and fleet, friendly service, too.

High quality Chinese/ Asian food. Hertfordshires finest Chinese restaurant, enjoying award winning accolades and multi repeat diners. Our Sunday buffet is often fully booked and a legendary family dining experience. Our produce is delivered 3 times a week and cooked fresh to order for every guest for every course. We are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. My favourite take away (they don't deliver, but they are worth it. NO salty MSG food here and the hosts are so friendly and you get to know them

This is very close walk from our house, it's a beautifully painted nature reserve with a park, benches for a picnic. Its principal features are the fresh springs that serve a small network of chalk lined streams and ponds. The River Lea with its riverside walks flows through the site and there is open grassland and a small wooded area to explore. A children's play area is located off Marquis Lane where there are also family friendly picnic tables.

Shaw's Corner was the primary residence of the renowned Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw; now a National Trust property open to the public as a writer's house museum. Inside the house, the rooms remain much as Shaw left them, and the garden and Shaw's writing hut can also be visited.

St Albans Cathedral is a great place to visit for the whole family – whatever the weather! From the longest nave in England and an extensive collection of medieval wall paintings, to an exciting programme of activities and events and a brand new interactive exhibition with artefacts, audio visuals and an exciting digital tour of the Cathedral. The history of St Albans Cathedral is rich and, over the centuries, this magnificent building has undergone several transformations. Step inside and you’ll find awe inspiring reminders of the Cathedral’s past as well as the inspiring story at its heart. These include the Shrine of St Alban, a site of national pilgrimage which has been a focal point for visitors and pilgrims alike for over 1700 years. The Nave of St Albans Cathedral is the longest in the country which, at 85 metres long, displays a striking selection of medieval wall paintings, one of the most extensive collections surviving today. Not only is the inside of the Cathedral, with its vast expanses of space and secluded, intimate chapels, it is located in the middle of acres of tranquil parkland, meaning that the Cathedral and surroundings is an oasis of calm just a short walk from the bustling market town of St Albans and a short train ride away from the frantic pace of central London. Price: no entry fee but a donation is suggested. There are also guided tours. The train form Harpenden station to St Albans is just one stop direct
