This is the going place in San Diego. Right downtown, close to the Convention Center and Seaport Village.

This in my opinion is the best of the local beaches. Also has a boardwalk connecting to Mission Beach, which has a roller coaster and other rides

600 W Date StIf you have an extra day or two I would recommend Palm Springs. Very hot in summer but all airconditioned. Casino, tram ride, Native Indian land to hike. I personally enjoy it very much. Vendors and food market Thursday nights. It is about a 3 hr drive.

This is an interesting spot. Watching the gliders take off, taking themselves around the oceanfront with the winds. Food is available as well. This is in LaJolla, and would require a car to get to.
