Food Scene

Turkish Restaurant: The Kebabs here are better than at most places as they are cooked over an actual coal fire housed indoors, they also all come with rice, salad and a huge piece of flat bread with dips for about £11.50 which even if starving you will probably struggle to finish

A real traditional British Cafe (debatably pronounced Caff) this place is simple but so so cheap and the portions are HUGE, full English Breakfasts start at about £4.50, which are a perfect hangover cure. Note: You may see the occasional homeless person in here as the owner provides free meals for those in need

For a nicer (and bit more fancy) setting try Gail’s, which serves sour dough bread with a range of toppings, pancakes and healthy (ish) bowls of muesli, also serves good coffee, lunch is not bad either.

A welcome recent addition to the high street, Bare Brew is a (dog friendly) Cafe that serves probably (IMHO) the best London roasted Coffee - Square Mile, and also a great range of breakfast and brunchy type food

Sort of a cross between a Wagamama and Yo Sushi, this place does Kaiten sushi as well as Izakaya favourites such as Katsu Curry, Teriyaki Salmon and Ramen. Mains are around £7.50 and Sushi around £4.50

Right next to Snaresbrook Station, (disclaimer: I haven’t actually eaten here yet, but my neighbour raves about it) order loads of small plates to share from between £4.50 and £25.00. Also does takeaway coffee for the morning train ride

Drinks & Nightlife

Probably my go to pub, has some decent beers on tap and a cozy atmosphere as well as a beer garden if the weather is nice (for once). Also does a Roast Dinner on a Sunday.

Not on the highroad but about a 2 min walk from Clock Court this is technically your “local” during your stay so you might want to check it out once at least whilst you are here, also it was voted as Time Out's favourite pub for Leyton, Leytonstone and Wanstead in 2016 if that type of thing impresses you.

The best thing about this pub is the large amount of seating that there is outside, again if the weather is ever nice.

Right opposite Wanstead Station this is a Weatherspoons pub which if you haven’t heard of can probably be best described as place for if you need to consume as much alcohol as possible as cheaply as possible.
