Streatham Guide

These are all the places that I would recommend in Streatham. It's an area with loads of options, but these are my personal favourites.
This is potentially the best pizza place in London! It's run by a really cool set of twenty somethings, all of whom are Naples natives. It gets busy, so don't be surprised if you go there and find there is a wait. Usually it's only 20 or 30 minutes, and there is a pub (Pratts and Payne) about 20 seconds walk away. You can just give Bravi your number and they'll call you when a table is free. If you don't fancy waiting, they do takeaway. Be aware, they often only accept cash.

Really good bar serving a carefully selected set of drinks, with fantastic food to accompany it. Everything served is home smoked in a Big Green Egg, basically an extremely cool BBQ. The food is very diverse and orginal, things like pulled pork and kim chi flatbread. Open Wednesday to Sunday, serving really good brunch as well.

A good traditional English gastropub. It's literally 2 minutes from the flat, and serves a great mix of craft beer, wine and quality pub food. If you don't feel like venturing far, you won't go wrong here.

This is a great local pub, just off Streatham Common. They serve really good gastropub food such as roasts and pies etc. It's been decorated really nicely, and has lots of space inside and out. If it's a sunny day, their garden is one of the best in the area.

A really good brunch spot, located 3-4 minutes walk away from the flat. They make great fresh baked goods (banana bread with espresso butter is my favourite!), and do cooked dishes like avocado and eggs on homemade sourdough, breakfast burrito etc. Staff are really friendly and it's a very cool vibe. It's not huge (maybe sits 30), so often a short wait is needed if visiting between 11am and 1pm on a weekend. If you want more space, visit Blackbird or Chalkpit (also recommended in my guide).

Really good bakery and brunch/lunch spot. They have a good amount of space generally, and will have a variety of freshly baked cakes, bread etc. Staff are friendly, and it seems particularly popular for families.

Good local pub sat directly opposite Streatham Common. If you're looking to watch sport, they'll be showing it. But it's also got a good sized relaxed dining room if you're looking to avoid the sports. They do good offers throughout the week, so worth checking what's on. Generally they offer a meal and a drink for £10 throughout the week.

Nice latin cafe that serves great Spanish and Portuguese brunch items, including delicious pastel de nata (portugese custard tarts).

The rookery is a beautifully cared for garden that is run by the friends of Streatham Common, a coop of dedicated locals who have turned it in to a fantastic walking spot and gardens. There is also a cafe located at the start of it, but I'm more putting it in to recommend the Rookery itself. If you fancy tennis, there is also a single court there.

If you'd prefer a bar to a pub, or are in the mood for barbecue style food, Exhibit B is a good recommendation. It's a really fun place that does great happy hour deals (two for one on prosecco, £4 beer), and also has bottomless brunches and life drawing over the weekends. It's decorated in a pretty cool way, and it even has a giant fish tank full of exotic fish.

This great wine bar is a 15-20 minute walk, or a really short bus/Uber ride. It's very small and intimate inside, serving fantastic wines. I look to order a flight, which is 3 small glasses, complete with tasting notes and guides. They also do meats and cheeses if you get peckish.

Probably the best restaurant in the area. This is a really good local restuarant, serving contemporary European food, paired with some great wine and beer. A bit more of a proper restaurant than the local gastropubs, but it's still ultimately an informal meal out. I'd recommend booking, but there should still generally be space.
