The Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island is iconic. It has been around since 1887. The movie Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour was filmed at the hotel in 1980. You can take the ferry from Mackinac City to the island. (It takes approximately 16-26 minutes.) The hotel offers afternoon tea (make sure to call ahead for reservations) and a beautiful front porch that is the longest in the world. (They charge a minimal fee to sit on the porch.)
