Hiking down/up is an option however, it can be overwhelming for young children or adults that are not in the best physical condition.

Please be advised, it can be very dangerous. It is extreme wear on your vehicles. Please follow recommended advisories. Rental cars are prohibited from traveling to the top of Mauna Kea, even if they are 4x4.
