Locals only tip: Call ahead and ask to put your name on the list and ask how long the wait is and then get to the restaurant 10-15 minutes before the table is going to be ready. Saves a lot of wait time! Or, put your name on the list and walk over to Hamilton's bar for a pint of San Diego's finest microbrews.

No surfboards, boogie boards or inflatable devices are permitted, but the cove is usually swarming with snorkelers and swimmers looking to take advantage of this beautiful area. The ocean floor at La Jolla Cove is often covered with bright orange Garibaldi, the California state fish, seals, sea lions and countless other striking local sea life. With the protection of sea cliffs, this area rarely has high surf making it ideal for safe

This is by far the best aircraft carrier museum in the nation! The ship hosts all sorts of events and is a highlight of any visit to San Diego. Don't rush this one. Allow yourself 2-4 hours. There are simulator rides and a self-guided tour with headphones. VERY cool.
