Ken Manning, a local from Gainesville Georgia attended the NY Culinary institute in NYC. His goal was to come back to Athens and open a Chinese restaurant by the name White Tiger. But when he found a place to open his restaurant, it just did not seem like a Chinese cuisine location. And so, Chef Manning has blessed our neighborhood with the best, and most gourmet BBQ, burgers, sandwiches, roasted vegetables and banana pudding that you can imagine. And it is just a three block walk from the Mure House.

Somewhere between TexMex and traditional mexican is where Agua Linda falls in place. Just a two block walk from the Mure House, this is a great casual dinning location with indoor and out door seating and a very decent bar.

If you want some very authentic mexican food, Tlaloc is the place to go, I just can never figure out how to pronounce it. The most AWESOME part of this restaurant is that when you order a pitcher of margaritas, they bring you a pitcher with glasses BUT, they fill the glasses before the bring them to the table. So, a pitcher is actually a pitcher and full glasses to boot. Ig you want a bargain, get the Molcajetazo, a big stone bowl of salsa, grilled chicken, pork rib, chorizo, grilled shrimp, nopal jalapeno, onions and fried cheese quesadilla served with rice, beans and salad and handmade tortillas. Will feed two easily.

Great location for lunch and breakfast. They serve breakfast all day and have the craziest donuts, such as the Elvis Presley with banana and peanut butter, cinnamon toast crunch donut, a great red velvet and many other pastries. ALSO, make sure to look at the wall behind the cash register because if you order in the fashion it tells you to, you get a 10% discount. So, don't be surprised if the person in line in front of you sings their order, or does jumping jacks while they order, or . . . . they may even try to hug the person in line behind them.

Hugh also owns the 5 and Ten and is a world class chef that serves as a judge on the show Top Chef and Iron Chef. Peter Dale is a culinary genius and also owns the National (very fine dining in downtown Athens) and Condor Chocolates - a must for the sweet tooth in you. Condor Chocolates is located at 5 points and you should really drive or Uber to get there.
