In Melbourne if you like to get around is many easier and faster ways to do it.
Now a days, in the city and almost everywhere is a big problem of traffic jams.
Also street parking or private are expensive.
Better options are:
Trams around the CBD are free of charge, so take advantage of that!
Trains get you anywhere you need to go, short of long ways. They are comfortable, and affordable, and you make a day out of it.
If you like to go outside of Melbourne, you can rent a car for the day and return it straight after, and is cheap and convenient.
Do your own research, but this are the best ways to get around and don't waste time, money and patience.
