Neighborhoods

These are neighbourhoods and general areas that I love to visit in my spare time. Dublin is lucky to have nature and city life in such close proximity to each other. It's well worth taking a half day to visit any of these locations.

A 40 minute DART train takes you to this seaside village in co. Wicklow. The sugar loaf mountain is not far, and there's a number of good spots like The Harbour Bar and casual dining at Fishbar in The Harbour Bar (lovely pub with live music sometimes).

This is where The Dublin Mountains are. There is a haunted, derelict castle called "The Hellfire Club" up here (where the tale of the devil playing cards originated). The hiking trails are excellent and views over the city are panoramic. The famous Johnnie Fox pub is here with hooley dancing and music. To get there from Portobello, you need to take the green line Luas from Harcourt Street to Dundrum and then the 44b Dublin bus to last stop in Glencullen. This should take 1 hr.
