A 1-mile, stroller-friendly trail from the parking lot alongside Lake Crescent wanders through old-growth forest to the base of Marymere Falls. From there, a bridge and stairway take visitors up a loop trail for better views of the Falls. Enjoy lunch, a drink or ice cream afterward at the Lake Crescent Lodge

Take the 17-mile drive up to Hurricane Ridge, on a clear day you will enjoy spectacular views of the mountains as well as the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The Visitor Center up at the Ridge has a 3-D model of the Olympic mountains, views of Mt. Olympus and other mountains, public restrooms, and a snack bar/gift shop. From the Visitor Center, you can walk the easy paved trail towards Hurricane Hill and enjoy a picnic at one of the tables nestled in the trees. HIkers can try the Klahane Ridge Trail (3.8 mi one way) or hike to the summit of Hurricane Hill (1.6 mi each way). Snowshoers and skiers can access these trails in the wintertime.

One of our favorite day trips is to hike the Cape Alava trail from Lake Ozette. There are two flat boardwalk trails from the parking area through the forest out to the beach. dAve recommends taking the Sand Point trail (southern trail) out to the coast. Walking north along the beach you will see "Wedding Rocks" (about a mile north) and can look for the ancient petroglyphs carved into the rocks there. We also like to look for the campsites hidden along the beach (watch for fishing floats hanging in the trees). You can return via the northern Cape Alava trail to make a 9 mile loop. If you do the hike "out and back" it is about a 6 mile hike. A detailed description from the Washington Trails Association is available at: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/lake-ozette.
