Nairobi’s city centre houses the headquarters of several government ministries, parliament building, organisations and companies. It also has several local and international financial institutions, Kenya’s largest conference venue, Kenyatta International Convention Centre among other institutions. The city features statues commemorating the freedom fighters, buildings that have stood for a century such as the Kipande House and the Old PC’s House now known as The Nairobi Gallery. Sarova Stanley Hotel was also built in 1913 but later renovated in 1961. The Kenya Railway Museum is a point of interest when you are in the city. It is located at the Old Railway building along Uhuru Highway. Here, you will find a detailed history of the Kenyan railway and early settlers. The 1998 Memorial Park, located near the Railway Museum is also a place you might visit. This is where the 1998 terrorist bomb attack took place at the then United States Embassy. Other places of interest within the city include Uhuru Park, Kenyatta Mausoleum and City Market.
