Neighbourhoods

Kensington Market is one of the oldest and most diverse neighborhoods in Toronto—and also one of its liveliest. The neighborhood is not so much a traditional “market” but more of an eclectic collection of cafes, restaurants, vintage stores, bars, and specialty food shops selling everything from cheese and spices, to freshly baked bread and produce. The neighborhood is a microcosm of Toronto’s multicultural population and a place that represents something that makes the city so special. A favorite among both locals and visitors to Toronto, Kensington Market is a place you can visit again and again, always finding something new to explore down side streets, graffitied alleys and in the ever-changing array of shops housed in old Victorian homes.

Trinity Bellwoods is definitely one of the hippest neighbourhoods in Toronto. It combines the best of Queen West and Dundas Wesy. You’ll catch all of the coolest people in town lounging in the grass, and once you leave its sunny slopes there’s so much to do in the area too. Ossington Avenue is Toronto’s hub for wining and dining, while Queen Street’s got some amazing shops. Not sure where to start? Here’s your guide to the best Trinity Bellwoods has to offer – both within the park and outside of it. If you’re looking to explore a couple more creative and enriching neighbourhoods nearby, head a block or two north to vibrant Little Italy, and then east to Kensington Market, another unique and art-centered area, with a more bohemian vibe.

Located in the heart of Downtown Toronto, the CN Tower is Canada’s most recognizable icon. The communication tower was built from 1973 to 1976 by the railway company “Canadian National” and standing 553.33 meters (1,815.4 ft) tall was the tallest structure in the world for over 30 years until it was surpassed in height by the Burj Dubai. A glass elevator takes visitors up to where they can look out from behind glass windows or from an outside observing area through a metal screen. Restaurant diners with reservations can avoid the queues for the observatory, and at night the lights from distant Rochester, New York are visible over the lake.
