One of the world’s best restaurants, but not stuffy. Bubbly and great food. A must do if you love your food!

This is a great restaurant offering original small sharing plates made from ingredients mostly from their own Sussex farm. Great food and really buzzy, lively atmosphere.

Sightseeing

Portobello Market is world famous and a great place to visit any day of the week. Full of stallholders selling everything from antiques to apples, the market has a great atmosphere and well worth a jaunt. The top end is where you’ll find all the antique dealers. The Portobello Green is where you’ll get great vintage clothing finds and opposite, in Acklam Village you’ll find the food village where you can find a wonderful array of street foods from around the world. The main market days are Friday and Saturday. Friday tends to be rather less crowded and in my opinion more pleasant. It is informally known as locals day in the area. Saturday is very much more crowded and packed with tourists. Locals tend to stay away for the most part on Saturdays! Thursdays is a no market day so if you want to go for the market, don’t go on Thursday! That being said, there are masses of wonderful independent retailers in the area really worth a visit which you don’t always see on market days. The area has of course been made more famous by the film Notting Hill. If you are a fan of the film, go checkout the famous “Blue Door” and the Notting Hill Book Shop.

Neighbourhoods

Notting Hill is probably most famous as the site of the film with the same name, but it is a lovely area nevertheless and worth a visit. The large rows of townhouses are characterised by the bright and pastel colours of the individual houses running down the crescent roads. The world famous Portobello Market can be found in the neighbourhood and is well worth a visit.
