Food scene
Nearby restaurants in Campton, NH and Lincoln, NH.
Mad River Coffee Roasters, set back behind the hardware store on Route 49, an absolute gem of a coffee shop. Has live music (guitar player) at times, great baked food, and lots of room with people hanging out.
The Farm Table restaurant. Great location overlooking a covered bridge and Pemigewasset River. Farmtablenh.com
Sugar Shack - close by on route 175. A breakfast favorite, generous portions of pancakes, eggs everything breakfast. Tends to draw a crowd, check out the website, typically open on Fridays/weekends during off-season.
Mad River Tavern is good for live music and pub grub, tends to get crowded they do take reservations.

Downhill Skiing
Here are a few of our favorite ski areas.
Cannon Mountain (more local scene, rustic, we love it!) not as beginner friendly as the others listed cannonmt.com
Waterville Valley, watervillevalley.com a full village. Skiing is decent.
Loon Mountain, more family oriented, lots of beginner and intermediate was well as expert trails. Bit more expensive than the others, gets crowded! loonmtn.com
Bretton Woods in Bethlehem NH is a bit longer of a drive, however, it's very family friendly, beautiful views of Mt. Washington.
