The "neoclassical trilogy" of Athens, as it is commonly called, on Panepistimiou Street, is identified with the heart of the spiritual life of the city. On the left, the National Library, in the center the University of Athens, on the right the Academy of Athens. These are three imposing neoclassical mansions built in the 19th century. The University was designed by Danish architect Christian Hansen, the other two buildings by his brother Theophilos, and completed by Ernst Ziller. All three have rich decoration inside, while gardens with sculptures of great Greek artists are formed around them, forming a separate ensemble in the city center.
