Favorite beaches
Also called by locals, "Hendry's" beach. As you arrive to the beach, dogs are allowed off-leash walking to the left. Walk to the right to enjoy the beach with no doggies. There are showers to rinse off, public bathroom, and an excellent restaurant called the "Boathouse". Try their happy hour, and a sunset walk for a great experience!

Few people at this beach! Don't worry, there aren't really 1000 steps, just about 250. Go at low tide (check the tide charts) and explore the tidepools!! No public restrooms.

Sightseeing
One of my favorite places to picnic! Use one of our lawn chairs, bring a book, blanket and pack a picnic to spend a memorable time at our beautiful Rose Garden. Very fun place to people watch, to stroll and admire the many varieties of roses maintained by generous volunteers. You can walk there in about 10 minutes from our house! In the background sits the majestic Old Mission, one of our historic Santa Barbara landmarks. You can take a tour of the inside of the Mission if it interests you. Beautiful place to spend some time.

Farmer's Markets
We are fortunate in Santa Barbara to have many local farmers who both grow vegetables and fruits, but sell them to us through local restaurants "farm to table" programs, and also at weekly Farmer's Markets. The biggest market is on Saturday morning, from about 8-12:30pm at the corner of Cota and Santa Barbara Streets. The other is in downtown Santa Barbara on lower State St. on Tuesday afternoons from about 3-6pm, but times vary depending on daylight savings time. Summer hours may be until 7pm. Ask for free samples, they love to share the bounty!

Wine Country is 30 minutes away!
Santa Ynez wine country has many vinyards, and some guests like to drive over and explore. You can also find some great hikes in Santa Ynez Valley, take a bike tour of the vinyards, and visit Solvang, a town where the city's architecture is inspired from Sweden. Definitely worth a day trip to visit this area!
