Take the tram or train to Kjelsås, and walk down to Grønland along the river. It is a great walk, and you will see a mix of nature and city. It takes about 2 hours to walk.
There are plenty of possibilities to stop and have something to eat along the way.

I personally think this park is far more interesting than the Vigeland Park.
