This is my favorite form of public transportation in the neighborhood, and its only 1.5 blocks from the house. Be sure to download the NYC Ferry app and use it to plan all your trips/get your tickets. You can even take the ferry down to The Rockaways and have a proper beach day!

Incredible Ice Cream factory/production plant where you can hang out in the production warehouse and enjoy some amazing ice cream. Can’t recommend this enough - especially if you have kids!

Hip pizza spot on the water in Red Hook. Great place to sit as the sun is setting. Grab a table outside. Walk to the pier after, and get some key lime pie at Steve’s right across the way. They have gluten free and vegan options, as well as some great beer + wine selection.

This is the closest food/bar hangout to the house, right at the end of the street. San Pedro has great drinks, and tacos that rival what you can find in LA. I love the shiitake mushroom tacos.

This is my go to coffee/tea/cafe when I am in the neighborhood. It’s about a 1 minute walk from the house. Run by incredibly nice people, beautifully designed, and there is a cute garden in back. Big recommend!

This is hands down my favorite spot in the neighborhood. Go here as the sun is setting, bring a blanket, and watch the sun set on the water over the Statue of Liberty as the sky turns pink. Never gets old to me - I hope you dig it too.

This is a classic neighborhood bar, that was originally opened for all the fisherman in the neighborhood. Now - this is a locals hangout and one of the few bluegrass spots in the neighborhood. Be sure to go here - you won’t regret it. I don’t even drink and I hang out here :)

This is a classic no frills dive bar. Drinks are cheap, there’s a beautiful outdoor space in the back, and the bartenders are friendly. Great locals hangout, and its super close to the house.
