Maintenon is a small town, just 10 km from Gallardon with restaurants, shops and a golf course.
In Gallardon there is an old tower more commonly known as GALLARDON'S SHOULDER, whose construction dates back to the middle of the 12th century, is 38.40 m high, the internal diameter is 9 m and the external diameter is 18 m. The thickness of the walls at the base is 4.50 m.
Gallardon's shoulder served as a home for the guards who were in the service of the baron. It was also used as a lookout to watch the surroundings for frequent dangers of invasion.
This tower is built of millstones, mixed with flint, embedded in a mortar of lime, sand and crushed bricks forming a blockage, very resistant when hardening.
It was partially destroyed during the siege of GALLARDON from June 23 to 29, 1421, on the order of the DAUPHIN, future CHARLES VII, giving the current ruin which curiously still stands.
In Gallardon you can also visit a bicycle museum and visit the church.
“La table de l’épaule” , a restaurant on the square are open for lunch Tuesdays and Wednesdays, lunch and dinner Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Every evening during the warmer months, there is spectacular light show; Chartres en lumières. Short films are shown on the walls of all the famous buildings after the sunset until midnight. Some of them have music. This is a show that will give the family memories for life.

Maison Picassiette is a house with mosaic ornaments in and outside. Even the furniture are decorated. Raymond Isidore created it, bit by bit started in 1938.

If you enjoy swimming or is skating, Odyssée is the place to go. Several pools, stream and water slides both inside and outside. A warm shallow pool for the youngest to a olympique size pool for those who wants to swim. Under the same roof you can rent skates and take a ride on the ice. All year long!

Look for the plaquette on the wall and take a walk to the river Loin. Walk over the bridge that you can see on many of the artists paintings and go for a swim in the cristal clear water.
