Buying cheap stuff
Great place to shop for just about anything at rock bottom prices! Really great bargains including DVDs, CDs TVs washing machine, office chairs, tables, clothes drawers, beds, books, some clothes and brick-a-brack toys, puzzles, gardening supplies and tools...... if you need it they probably have it.

Sightseeing
Great views of both Littleton harbour and Christchurch city. walking tracks that are situated on top of an extinct volcano.
you might be lucky enough to find some volcanic glass, like I did. And of course the gondola ride. Theirs a restaurant at the top and a gift shop too. Bring a warm jacket and sun block and drink lots of water. I got dehydrated and sun burnt and wind blown last time I went up there. Bring Sun hat and sun glasses too. Some of the tracks are rated very difficult, especially the track going down the mountain into Littleton. Definitely not a place to take a pram or stroller! Recommended for those that are fiscally fit with suitable footwear only. The gondola will take you from the car park to the top of the volcano where the cafeteria and gift shop is located and will bring you down again. They’ll even take your photo if you want them to.

Swimming area by picnic area. If you like picking up rocks like I do, then you’ll love picking up rocks from this rocky beach area!!! Lots of quails running around on quail island.

Local airport
The Christchurch international and domestic airport is very close to where my home is, but far enough away to not be in it’s flight path. Ie. no noise from air plains.

Great for the whole family, free swimming/paddling pools for kids. Ducks to feed, ice cream store. Long walks around the botanical gardens. Rose garden, green house, desert plants.....
