This is a fun activity for all ages. It is drive-thru, so very little walking is required (just from the parking lot, and down some steps to get into the vehicles). Also great for bad weather or hot days. Only about 20 minutes from the cottage.

This is the mother store, so all outdoorsmen want to visit here. Kids will enjoy the fish on display, free range ducks with their own pond, and turtle display. Around Christmas they have a great activity area for kids. About 30 minutes from the cottage.

Route 66 went through Springfield, so there are relics of it everywhere. The little stone motel bungalows are my favorite. This museum is 15 miles from the cottage, but route 66 ran just south of us -- maybe 5 miles.
