You're right at the base of snow summit for skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and so much more. Outside of the winter, the resort is a bike park, you can take the chairlift up on foot, or hike up. The proximity to snow summit is my favorite part about staying here! (Knowing that you can wake up, walk to the mountain, and ski makes the road noise tolerable)

If you park on the pavement, it is a 1.8 mile out and back trail. If you have a car that can drive on dirt roads - it's no more than a 3 minute walk from a small parking area. This is a sacred place for the Serrano Indians and was originally a full dome of quartz but was dynamited in the 40's in search of Gold. It is a LOT of quartz - please do NOT take any quartz with you so that it is preserved for future guests of Big Bear.

This is a great hike and has some terrific views at the top. The last 20-30 feet requires some scrambling with some ropes to help pull yourself up by. If you are willing to do that last bit, the views are WELL worth it. If the last bit scares you, it still has some incredible views

I last did this in Jan of 2019. It was a bit pricey at $450 for the 4 door Jeep on a 3.5 hour John Bull Jr. trail. Split amongst 4 people, it isn't too bad though. It took us closer to 4.5 hours with strangers in another Jeep switching drivers frequently but there were some technical trails that they took us on and trusted us with $75k Jeeps so that is a fun way to do some offroading if you don't have a capable vehicle yourself (or don't want to deal with it inevitably breaking

I last used this with my niece and nephew in Jan of 2018. The price was $35 per kid for 1.5 hours which was plenty for them (ages 6 and 4) and they got a good few runs with minimal line right off the bat then around 12:15 pm the line really picked up. I went snowboarding on Sunday and noticed that there was almost nobody there at 10:00 AM when they opened so if you’re trying to get max laps, that is the time to go. Since we did this, I've heard good things about Big Bear Snow Play so that could be a fun option too if you have youngin's

This is a great place to go in the spring when the snow is melting. The hot springs themselves offer a lot of variety. We took dual sport motorcycles out for a ride to Deep Creek Hot Springs on 3N14 which took quite a bit longer than I expected but it was a really nice ride. We parked at Bowen Ranch (which you can park at if you're in a car too - it is off a dirt road) and hiked down to the hot springs which took about 30-45 minutes. The guy at Bowen Ranch is more than a bit weird so keep chit chat to a minimum. BRING A TON OF WATER! This is a CLOTHING OPTIONAL place and there can be people smoking weed so keep that in mind before bringing the kiddos. Overall, I’d definitely recommend visiting these hot springs although it takes a while and requires a somewhat strenuous hike
