Food scene

A real Kootenay (Canadian) experience. Local beers and rustic pub style foods all in a setting that will remind you of a mountain man's shed. Decor includes old tools and sporting equipment. Racks. Old woods and tall stools. Long tables made for sharing and meeting up with friends. A 20' open window that lets the summer breeze pour in on loud, fun-filled nights. The television plays significant sporting events (think Olympics and Playoff Hockey) the rest of the time you can expect fun boot stomping music that might include everything from the Black Keys to Johnny Cash to LCD Soundsystem. Stop here at the end of your evening to cap off your Kimberley experience, or come early and enjoy some yummy bar-style food (all made in house) and one of our gorgeous local craft beers. The Platzl in Kimberley’s city centre is what readily comes to mind when one thinks of Kimberley BC. Kimberley is widely known as the “City of Festivals” and the Bavarian-themed Platzl is the venue where most of the city’s signature festivals – and other community events, too – take place each year. Visitors to the Platzl during one of these festivals are usually completely enchanted to see artisan booths, street dancing, live music, parades and so much more lively activity, especially during the summer months. Bordered by unique local shops, boutiques and restaurants, the Platzl’s pedestrian-only brick streets, water fountains, giant chess pieces, climbing wall and cute, hand-painted fire hydrants, draw thousands of visitors every year to this little oasis of downtown heaven.
