Sunday Market Arcades - Lusaka Sundays are set aside as market day and the grounds of Arcades come alive for the main weekend attraction. There’s a hive of activity, a blaze of vibrant colour and a plethora of beautiful handmade Zambian arts and crafts on show. This is a fun way to get all your traditional handmade art and craft gifts from Zambia, meet the artists and even watch them at work. The famous Sunday Market also known as Pakati Market is open every Sunday from 09.00 am to 17.00 am.

While the history and culture of Zambia were originally transmitted orally, museums were built across the country after its independence. They highlight the country’s heritage, art, politics and tribes. One of the best places to start is the Lusaka National Museum in Lusaka, the country’s capital. You can also see the Choma Museum and Crafts Center that explores the heritage of the Tonga tribe and the Nayuma Museum in Mongu with information on the Lozi tribe. Don’t miss the Livingstone Natural History Museum which has exhibits of everything from archaeology to politics.

That is how Kabwata Cultural Village began. ​ “Now that we have 10 provinces, all the 10 are represented here,”

Kalimba Reptile Park is half an hour drive from Lusaka, perfect for a day excursion. The park is part of a working farm and is open 365 days a year. Specially trained guides are available to take you on informative tours. The scaly residents include giant Nile crocodiles, a large variety of indigenous snakes, tortoises and other reptiles. It is also one of the few places left in the world where you can see the rare and shy slender-nosed crocodile. ​ You can sample the Kalimba speciality, Croc burgers! They say it tastes just like chicken! Other food is available and all the beef, pork and fish are farm-reared right next door. Ice creams soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are available at reception.
