Nice walkable area on the North Shore with tons of shops and restaurants, bike and paddleboard rentals, and walk over the pedestrian bridges to downtown.

Up for a little drive outside the city? About 45 minutes away, this is one of my favorite waterfalls and hiking spots in the area. Consider taking the scenic route along 27 if you're coming from Signal Mountain (it's all scenic around here, actually..)
