Town of Arlington information
The town of Arlington is located six miles northwest of Boston. The town is bordered on the north by Winchester, on the east by Medford and Somerville, on the south by Cambridge and Belmont and on the west by Lexington.
The Town of Arlington was originally settled in 1635 as a village under the name Menotomy. In 1807. The Town and a section of what is now Belmont were set off from Cambridge and incorporated as West Cambridge. In 1867, the name was changed to Arlington in honor of the heroes buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, MA. Arlington (then called Menotomy) played a prominent role on the first day of the American Revolution - April 19, 1775. Minutemen from surrounding towns converged on Menotomy to ambush the British on their retreat from Concord and Lexington. More than one-half of that fateful day's casualties were suffered in the short distance from Foot of the Rocks (at the intersection of Lowell Street and Massachusetts Avenue) to Spy Pond.
Today, Arlington is the home for 42,844 residents (2010).
There are a few beautiful parks in town: Spy pond park, Menotomy Rocks park, Robbins Farm park, Winfield Robbins Memorial Garden
The 10 miles Minuteman Commuter Bikeway, The Alewife Greenway Bike Path, and the Mystic River Bike Path are crossing town.
The Regent Theatre is the town legendary venue for diverse performances and the Capitol Theatre is the only Cinema in town and a great place for Pizza, Ice cream and a movie.
There are many great restaurants in town. No need to drive out of town to enjoy a great meal.
It is very pleasant to walk the town, to cross the parks and to enjoy the beauty of Arlington's residential neighborhoods.

A piece of nature in the city. Huge rocks and a peaceful pond in the center attract locals at any time of the day. Main entrance is in Jason Street but there are also an entrance from Ottawa street. Green Space near Jason street entrance is available for rent for volley ball or badminton ONLY with permit. Picnic area is available for birthday parties and small gatherings under 50 people (Park Permit Reservation on website required). No portable restrooms.
Spring 2021 Update: Unfortunately the picnic tables at this park are in unusable condition. If you reserve the picnic area, you may bring in your own folding table(s). Please note, tables must be walked in, cars are not permitted in the park.

Its a great 10 mile long paved bikeway on an old commuter rail path. The entrance is down the hill from the guest unit and the path can take the rider all the way to Cambridge and Somerville on one end and Lexington and Bedford on the other (west) end. Biker can extend their ride all the way to the Charles river in Cambridge/ Boston (South) or Concord (West)
The bike paths are good for Biker, Joggers, and walkers.
