Amazing food, view and atmosphere! Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

An amazing place, near my home that is on Sesuit Harbor. You actually sit on picnic benches a few feet from this picturesque waterway and are offered gourmet food and it is also BYOB. Everyone I have recommended this to has said the experience was amazing!

Provincetown, or Ptown as it is affectionately referred to is a very unique place on the Cape. It is the very tip of the Cape so surrounded by the North Atlantic and her whales on one side and Cape Cod Bay on the other. It is also where the Pilgrims first landed before going across the bay to Plymouth, or Plimoth as they would have spelled it. You can take a Whale Watch from McMillan wharf and see whales up to 90 feet long. And yes, they are real! Ptown is also home to many amazing art galleries and boutiques. It is also the home to a very large LGBTQ community.

You will find some of the finest seafood here and also some of the largest portions. Their onion rings are homemade and delicious! They also serve wine and beer. The meal will require a 2-3 mile run the next day!

The CCRT is a 5 minute bike ride from my house, crossing one quiet street. You are then on your way to more than 30 miles of recently paved trails that were at one time the Cape Cod Rail Road. You will go through quaint villages, cranberry bogs, ocean inlets, lakes, farms, places to eat including Ice Cream shops and eventually Skaket Beach in Orleans.

Each week a new group of artists rent out a shanty to show off their work. The art ranges from jewelry, painting, pottery, sculpture, knitting to one stained glass artist, which is me from Aug. 23 - 30. Sorry, that was a cheap plug! But the shanties are on the docks where you can get a harbor ride or go to the Islands of Martha's Vineyard to Nantucket. Also, many local fishermen are docked there, giving you a great insight into what these boats and individuals to to bring you your fresh fish to the table.

The canal is approximately 9 miles long. It is spanned by 2 traffic bridges and a railroad bridge, which is pictured here. This still lowers and raises to allow train crossings. There is a bike trail along both sides of the canal and affords you a magnificent view as well as boats from 10 feet to 1,000 feet.

A day on any beach on the National Seashore will be a day to remember for ever. You are right on the North Atlantic and the beach goes far many miles. There are many clam shacks surrounding the beach entrances and other interesting places to visit. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy signed a bill authorizing the establishment of Cape Cod National Seashore. A long-time summer resident of the Cape, J.F.K. had co-sponsored the legislation while in the Senate. The goal, he wrote, was "to preserve the natural and historic values of a portion of Cape Cod for the inspiration and enjoyment of people all over the United States." This was the first time the federal government had created a national park out of land that was primarily in private hands. Months of hearings and meetings were required to produce a bill that balanced private and public interests. Today the Seashore encompasses more than 43,000 acres and draws more than 4,000,000 visitors a year.

This is my favorite place to watch the sunset. Off to the left you will see the tip of Sandy Neck and the small lighthouse that marks the entrance to Barnstable Harbor. To your right you will see the back of Chapin Beach in Dennis. The boardwalk takes you out about 1,000 feet into the water. I highly recommend a trip to Gray's Beach and it is about five minutes from my home.

The Shining Sea bike trail is something that you will never forget. It begins in N Falmouth with free parking spots and has others further along the way. The trail is 23 miles round trip and is beautiful from start to finish. You will end up at the base of the trail in Wood's Hole where you will see the ferry's that go out to Martha's Vineyard, amazing restaurants , pubs...though not highly recommended if you are biking...as well as the campus of the internationally known Wood's Hole Oceanographic Institute, The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is a private, nonprofit research and higher education facility dedicated to the study of marine science and engineering. Also, the Marine Biological Laboratories, the Marine Biological Laboratory is an international center for research and education in biological and environmental science. Orleans is on the north side of the Cape and is a beautiful, typical Cape Cod village. It is a great place to rent a kayak and head out into the bay. There are also many wonderful places to stop and eat and a favorite of mine is the Chocolate Sparrow. It is a hang out for the locals during the off season and a wonderful place for a sandwich, pastry, or their amazing chocolates.

Chatham is a very beautiful seaside town that is at the elbow of the Cape. They, like most towns on the Cape, offer a town band concert every Friday night that is a lot of fun. It has been a tradition in Chatham for a hundred years. I have amazing memories from childhood of going to the concerts very often and getting up and dancing with hundreds of other kids when the band leader played music specifically for this. It is an amazingly fun evening. I recommend getting there early and perhaps enjoying dinner at one of the amazing local eateries.

The Whydah, the only pirate ship ever to be discovered and certified to be real is the Whydah, which crashed off Eastham, Cape Cod in 1717 , being captained by Sam Belamy, or Black Sam. He was coming back to be with his love, Mary Hackett. The ship was discovered off our shore in 1989 and the proof was the recovery of the ship's bell. The museum is about 2 miles from my home and is a real historical treasure!

This museum was the for,er property of the Eli Lily family. It is 100 acres of amazing gardens from May through Christmas. There is an 1800s carousel to ride, an antique car collection that is beyond belief. The collection is housed in a round Shaker Barn and compromises 30-40 cars. The grounds are also known for different plantings that bloom at different times. At Christmas the grounds are lit up to be like an enchanted forest with activities for young and old alike. There is even a small restaurant that serves food, beer and wine. The Christmas event is called "Gardens Aglow." Santa can be found in the round barn in an antique Model T. Your host here is the museum's Santa.
