Swimming Hole
It is a tidal pool, so as the name suggests it exists when the tide is out. A great place for everyone from paddle boarders, splashers, foot paddlers, toddlers, babies and hardcore swimmers. Top tip, use the wall to enter the pool at the designated steps. The first set, you can touch the ground, further out by the second set it's a bit deeper. The sunrise and sunsets are breathtaking. There isn't much beach space, but it's still less crowded than the more well known spots.

It has a the groynes that give it a certain feeling of safety and as a swimmer somewhere to swim back and forth to. Paddle boarding is growing in popularity here.

Be careful of the tide though, it's easy to get caught out. Also, wellies are best to wear if you're going to walk across to it. The other option is to access it from a footpath opposite Pegwell Bay Hotel, this can take you all the way to the Viking Ship where there is the aptly named Viking Ship Cafe. The third option if you want to go further, is to drive there, on from the Viking ship down the old Ramsgate Road, you will see a car park on your left after the petrol station. There is a cafe and children's playground, nature reserve and bird watching station.

From 'Aitch' 'Paraphenalia' both dealing in vintage and eclectic to The Falstaff Pub, with great food, drink and a cafe on the side. Eats and Beats cafe, offering food, drink, live music even an open mic night. On the far end of the street, is Umbi's Vinyl Head, the name says it, if you love records then this is a place to spend a day or two. Moon Lane a gorgeous children's book store, this is a must see I challenge you to leave without buying a book for some small person in your life. One gallery 'Margo in Margate' spot the picture in our house. In addition to these there are also a few pop ups, which adds to the excitement of never knowing what you might find.

POSITIVE RETAIL is a gorgeous addition to Addington Street. A shop that is not only great for the environment, but great on the pocket. Beautiful high end second hand clothes shop for men and women, in immaculate condition. All clothes are sourced and vetted by the owners. It is well worth a mooch in.
