Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a fishing town at the mouth of the Nivelle river, in southwest France’s Basque country. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, where King Louis XIV married Marie-Thérèse of Spain in 1660, has a gilded baroque altarpiece and wooden galleries. The turreted Maison Louis XIV is a museum that recreates 17th-century domestic life with period furniture. It includes the King’s Chamber, where Louis XIV slept. Lovely place to spend the afternoon ,nice resturants,cafes and boutiques.

Bayonne is a city in the Basque Country region of southwest France, where the Nive and Adour rivers meet. Narrow medieval streets characterize the old Grand Bayonne district. Here lie the Gothic-style Bayonne Cathedral, with its 13th-century cloister, and Château Vieux castle. Across the Nive river in the Petit Bayonne district is the Musée Basque, a museum devoted to the region’s arts, crafts and traditions. Nice restuarants and boutiques somtimes there are antique markets too.

Santa María gate is the main entry to the walled old town, home to the Gothic and Renaissance Castle of Emperor Carlos V and the 16th-century Iglesia del Manzano church. Sandy Hondarribia Beach lies at the mouth of the Bidasoa River. Lovely place to spend the day, nice places to eat and little boutiques all right beside the beach and port. there is a little boat that takes you from Hendaye beach to Hondarribia and a local taxi service too.

We are 10 minute walk from the main train station with connections to major cities such as Paris and Bordeaux and smaller towns along the coast such as Saint Jean de luz, Biarritz and Bayonne, A smaller train runs from Hendaye to San Sebastian where there is a good bus service to other cities and Towns such as Bilbao , Pamplona, barcelona,Madrid amd smaller towns like Getaria and fuenterrabia . i will leave updated timetables in the apartment.
