More than a decade ago, four young men from Costa Rica’s rural zone, took their first steps into the world of ecotourism. Although they had never seen tourism as a business, Ricardo, Adonay, Jonathan and Nelson, had spent his life in the cloud forests of the central mountains of Costa Rica, and quickly gained experience in the natural area and wildlife. san luis canopy tour They four soon perfected their expertise as a Canopy tour guides and adventure activities. Their knowledge allowed them to fully express the beauty of Costa Rica through their work. Since 2000, they worked in construction, maintenance and management of adventure activities while their business knowledge grew up. After a period of searching, they arrived at a property near the Central Valley and fell in love of it. This area is known as San Luis, a cloud forest, which only God could have made. The land was between valleys and hills, breathing, and wildlife, all of them stained by the waterfalls and carved through a majestic river, a place which fulfilled the expectations they four were considered, immediately began to plan how to carry out that dream they had in mind. Now, construction has been completed, so we show you the San Luis Adventure Park. We cordially invite you to come

This is one of the most popular, beautiful and fun places to visit in Costa Rica. There are many different kinds of activities to enjoy and the sites and food in this area are great as well. From your visit with us here in 'The Embassy' we can plan for a number of different 'TOURS' to La Fortuna with our very good Tour Guide that we have known and worked with for over 15 years.

It is a patch of forest in recovery that includes reforested areas and others in natural regeneration, under the category of Private Reserve. It has a great diversity of flora and fauna, which has evolved over time. It is part of the Montes del Aguacate Biological Corridor (CBMA), a conservation initiative that seeks the connectivity of protected areas at the local level. The Corridor is managed by its Local Council made up of representatives of institutions and organizations involved. We are part of the Network of Public and Private Reserves of the CBMA.

What We Do Nectandra Cloud Forest Preserve is a horticultural display garden landscaped to exhibit the immense richness of the flora and fauna of Costa Rica. The premontane cloud forest of this region has one the highest density of species in the world, where, as naturalist Ken Miyata described in his book titled Tropical Nature, “Rare species are common, and common species are rare.” The Garden carries out educational programs for the general public, and conducts limited scientific studies to support its educational goals. These goals are to promote understanding of neotropical cloud forests: their biodiversity, their ecology, and their importance to our future. The preserve includes two properties, separated by a highway. (See photos in Location.) The larger Nectandra Garden is located within 130 hectares of premontane mostly primary and mature secondary (≥ 35 yr) cloud forest, with luxuriant wild epiphytes — orchids, ferns, bryophytes, and heliconias. In striking contrast to the mature Nectandra Garden, the smaller property (8 ha.), designated as Persea Garden, is a rapidly regenerating native forest on a former ornamental plantation. It is dominated by the impressive pioneer trees and plants, which provide shade and wind protection for the slower emerging hardwoods. Avifauna are more active and more visible at Persea. All the proceeds from the two Gardens go to support our sister non-profit organization, the Nectandra Institute and its watershed conservation programs. The Garden is operated by Nectandra SA, a Costa Rican corporation formed to generate income for the activities and mission of its sister non-profit organization The Nectandra Institute.
