I love this place as a nice night out or great place for happy hour weekdays!! Great fish tacos and I love the jalapeno margaritas. During the summer.....sit on the back patio! They often have local artists work hanging on the walls and support local farmers with a farm to table philosophy in their menu selections.

This is probably the place I come back to the most- great food and really friendly staff. Not the best coffee in town, so I often bring mine in from somewhere else (Firecreek has the best coffee, I think!). Casual, great outdoor courtyard area when it's nice out. Perfect place to get a bite and do a little work or meet someone for breakfast, coffee, or lunch. GREAT DESSERTS- grab a couple as a treat!! Best in town!

I would say this is one of the most local places. Budget friendly, great food- especially the weekday lunch specials, and an open, big place right on Rt. 66. My favorite is the yellow curry- add broccoli- medium spicy with steamed tofu.

This has good sushi and fun cocktails. A bit more expensive than some other places but it does fly fresh fish in! Ask the server what is freshest in terms of the sushi before ordering and splurge for and ask for 'the real wasabi'- I think it is definitely worth the few extra bucks. Again here....GREAT lunch specials weekdays- the sushi boxes are a great deal and offer a variety of items. They also have a limited but good value happy hour menu.

Hands down the best coffee in town! I have never had a bad cup of coffee here and you don't need to put anything in it....it's perfect every time. (my friend who lived in France for years told me this was the sign of a really good cup of coffee!) Also a great place to people watch or get some work done! They have live music and special events options, not necessarily big names, but if someone you like is there....go check it out- small venue!

I love this place because it is a SCENE. Crowded, old, busy....great energy! Perfect place to meet someone for coffee or a great vegetarian breakfast....no bacon here (my favorite treat is the breakfast sandwich and I add spinach and swiss cheese...so good!). They also have coffee you can purchase and mugs and shirts with their name on it....great gifts. But make no mistake, this in not a tourist place, it is definitely local, tourists get the true Flagstaff vibe here!

I lived in NYC for 12 years. I like this place because it reminds me of my favorite restaurants in the village. Kind of dark. Limited but really good menu and drink list. Kind of edgy and fun! I get the Mothra- my favorite as a vegetarian, but I have heard great things about their meat bowls---- its a noodle based place, though their calamari is pretty great! Ask your server if you have questions about the dishes, especially the noodle types- make sure you get what you like the noodle types are very different from each other. They have GREAT happy hour deals on food and drinks.

If you love artisan pizzas and iconic places...this is one of those. Caleb, the owner, is a perfectionist in every way. The communal main table is great for meeting new people or for a group (they don't take reservations though, so go early and make sure all in your party are there) or there is a small bar inside you can sit and catch up with a friend. During the summer the outside tables are great for a little more privacy or a date night. I love their Kale Gorgonzola - SS 145 pizza, though check out the specials- often that pizza is amazing! Love their gelato too. Great wine choices and local beers, though limited.

Great spot to grab lunch for a picnic if you are hiking or before or after your time in Sedona. Grab a beer, a bottle or wine, a snack, or a full meal. Can be busy during weekends. Great little back garden area (closed in the winter).

Of the MANY breweries in this town, this is my favorite. Maybe I just like their beer best? Maybe it's the people who work there? Maybe it's just the rustic decor- I'm a sucker for big heavy wooden tables?!

I think this is a winner of a day excursion if you like wine. Right on Oak Creek. Not too long of a drive. Great for groups or a romantic outing. They have wine, they have some great food to pair with the wine. You can leave with your own local winery wine!

Entertainment & Activities

Small cool old theatre that houses most of the big name artists that come through town, check out their calendar and see if someone you like is playing while you are in town. Definitely hit or miss- sometimes the place is empty and sometimes it is packed to the gills. Some shows really do SELL OUT so get a ticket if you really want to go. I have had some of my most favorite music show experiences under this roof! G-Love, Gregory Alan Isakov, Martin Sexton, John Butler Trio....to name a few highlights!

Parks & Nature

If you are looking for an iconic challenging day hike, this is the one. During the winter it is a full on ski hill, but during the rest of the year it is a killer hike with an amazing view--- time varies depending on your fitness level. It is a 3,000+ feet hike, not for kids and dogs need to be on leash. Starts at just over 9,000 at Snowbowl parking lot and goes up to over 12,000+ feet. Lots of false summits and make sure you know the weather......storms come in fast and that is not a place to be in a storm. There also tends to be quite a bit of wind at the top and a huge shift in temperature from the start to the top--- bring layers (anytime you are hiking this, even in summer).

Kelly Canyon trail system is extensive!! You can walk to this trailhead right from my door. Go to the end of the street- take a left onto Ancient Trail- take a right onto Tanolea and then a Left at Toho. Before the bridge, look for the little gate on your right. Trail is well worn and about 1/4 mile up the trail you hit a large dirt road.....you can follow the dirt road and do an out and back hike that is as long as you want it to be (the road goes all the way to Sedona) or you can explore the smaller less well marked trails. Just don't go off trail or you may need to get a rescue back....the wilderness is EXTENSIVE. If you bike, check out: https://www.meetup.com/azmtnbiking/

Short to medium length, well marked out and back trail the follows Pumphouse Wash. It ends as the trail gets really overgrown. Trailhead is walking distance from this house. Take a right onto Ancient Trail and follow it around the corner. The water treatment plant will be on your Left. Just after the water center there is a dirt road down to a small parking lot. The main trail is off the back Left corner of the parking lot and follows the creek. Was a daily hike for me with my pup Lucky!

Lots of trails in Sedona. I recommend doing a lesser know trail if you are good at trail finding/maintaining. One of the best local resources is COSMIC RAYS HIKING book for both Flagstaff and Sedona. This book lists both the well traveled and touristy hikes and some great lesser done ones. Depends on your fitness, interest in hiking, and time you want to be out hiking. Let me know if you need a trail recommendation! I have the book if you want to borrow it!!

For a good but not super challenging day hike, this is a great choice! Not easy, and the views are really beautiful, but not like the Humphrey's Peak hike that I would say is CHALLENGING for most and requires some knowledge and preparation. Kendrick is a little bit of a drive but tends to be less busy, especially on a week day. Still....check weather reports and make good decisions in terms of preparation- food, water, first aid, clothing choices, etc. Let me know if you have any questions.
