Sightseeing
In Cologne it's the people that make the city worth the visit. The city itself got destroyed so much during WW II, every here and there you see a house from before war and can imagine how beautiful the whole town was. Go to the Südstadt or the Belgium Quarter and you'll get a better imagination.
Once you're here, you should definitly see it, also from inside, especially as it is right next to Cologne main train station anyway.

If you want to have a look over Cologne but also see the Dom, that's the place to be. On the other side of the river, next to Messe Deutz, you won't have to climb the stairs and it costs about the same as walking up the Dom.
Closed with heavy rain or wind as you're standing outside. If it's you birthay you get in for free (at least some years ago)!

The park that goes like a "ring form" through Cologne begins about 5 min walking from our house. I recommend starting between ZülpicherWall and Universitätsstrasse and walking towards Aachener Weiher, you can go until Mediapark or further with many places for sports and playgrounds along the way.

Beautiful big forrest with lakes and many places to bike, walk, horseride, jogg, watch animals etc. Fun fact: You can, once you enter the "Grüngürtel" , get to the "Cityforrest" by only walking through nature.

Andreas mother was there and they gave her such great advice instead of just cutting her hair and earning money, so she listened to the advice which ment no cutting yet. I hope she does come back to cologne when it's time to get the hair cut, as I'd lve to see the transformation on someone I know- All the young ladies that come out of the little shop look great! It is right on the other street side from our place.

Getting Around
There are different tracks, depending on which tram/tube you take, there leave 15&12 from here or 16 & 18, these two bring you to Cologne main train station. To be sure better leave at least 15 min when going there for the first time

Food Scene
There are so many delicous food places around our home. I cannot NOT recomend you something, so if a place is not on the list that means just that we haven't been there yet. You can choose between great take-aways (Khun mae) imbiss-like stops (BOUSCHONG) and restaurants if you prefer something for a nice evening (Il Bagutta). And then there are also places like Meister Gerhard (Tapas & Wine) or 485° (great pizza!) but they already have more stores in Cologne, so I'm trying to recommend you also smaller more individual places. Enjoy!
The place to be and to be seen, especially in good weather on the street. Honestly they have amazing food though (personal favs: Quiche, Chocolate-cheese cake, salads!)

Local, seasonal great delicious warm meals, breakfast and tasty cakes + other pastries. Everything is freshly hand made by a kind team. It feels like a comfortable snack bar with big windows and sunlight shining through, in summer you can sit outside. We're happy we discovered the place by accident. They do also serve great coffee to go if you're willing to get a recycling cup.

I've actually only been there once but gotten cake to go so many times, simply delicous! Bring your/our own lunch boxes if you want to do the same :)
