Known for their incredible baked cheese cake, excellent coffee and also their bagel hot dogs.
They make great coffee and have reclaimed the tastiness of a good old fashioned toasted sandwich - think it's because they double toast the ciabatta, but you have to try it for yourself. It comes highly recommended.

Samosas are a local cuisine which consists of a filling in a triangle shaped pastry crust. They are the perfect little snack when you are walking around the city and Mariam's is practically an institution with Cape Town locals. For us, this is a key part of your cultural Cape Town experience.

This, for me, is one of the best Italian restaurants in Cape Town. The Linguine Portofino is so delicious and I often have a specific craving for this particular pasta - it brings me back time and time again. One of our favourites, which we used to frequent when living in Cape Town CBD.

It's in the same group as the Test Kitchen (of Luke Dale Roberts fame) and therefore the food reputation goes before it. It's a fine-dining experience in a very tastefully and stylish decorated venue. The ambiance is brilliant and the food is top class.

Swan Cafe is an authentic French café and crêperie with Parisian roots. Cassandra and I were very impressed with both the selection on offer and the incredible effect that some of these dishes had on our palette.
