A really great place to either sit down for a delicious breakfast or lunch or pick up some high quality sandwiches to go. They also have an entire frozen food section including soups, pastas and lasagnas. You cannot go wrong here.

If you like to drink and like to be around alot of people, then you should definitely go to Jameson's. The food is fine, but they serve great drinks.

Without traffic, this is probably a 35-40 minute drive from the house but if you like seafood, it is a great casual lunch/dinner place. It only serves fresh seafood -- typically what was caught that day -- and you eat on outside patio tables.
If you want to go up and see Malibu, then it is probably only a 10 minute drive past Malibu and Pepperdine University.
Good tip--- bring a tablecloth and your own alcohol. It is allowed and alot of fun.

The perfect bougie brunch location. The food is truly outstanding. You cannot go wrong on any breakfast dish. Dinners are probably fantastic too, but I have only gone for brunch. Also, there is live music some nights.

The Sunday Farmer's Market on Main Street and Ocean Park
A great family farmer's market. The prepared food choices have been limited since the pandemic, but the farmers are still there offering farm fresh produce
Other farmer markets in Santa Monica take place at Arizona and the Third Street Promenade on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The Wednesday morning farmer's market is probably considered the best, with all the best chefs from the area coming down to get their produce.

Some restaurant suggestions for special occasions
The recommendations are in no particular order:
1. The Lobster: While it is located right next to the Santa Monica pier, it is not a very touristy place. The views are perfect.
2. Watergrill
3. Catch (located inside Casa Del Mar Hotel). As an aside, if you want to go somewhere for a cocktail, Casa Del Mar has a great bar area with live music many nights. Really nice.
4. Sushi: Sushi Roku or Wabi on Rose. Wabi is definitely a more vibrant (and trendy) scene.
5. Steakhouses: Meat on Ocean, Boa, or Mastro's Ocean Club (Mastro's overlooks the beach, excellent food, but somewhatoverpriced)
