Best spot to watch the sunset. Quiet neighbourhood. Nice beach for a snorkel or rock pooling. At low tide the walk around the point to Smith's beach is lovely.

This is our local favourite. Walk to the pizza van and pick up a few pies to bring back to Bayview Retreat. Grab some microbrew beer in the bottle shop and enjoy a no fuss dinner on the front deck.

New Haven is worth a visit. It is a very small village, but has great coffee, organic foods, organic linens, alternative therapies and the best little plant shop all in one stop. We often ride our bikes from Surf Beach along the bike track. When traffic is heavy during peak season a bike ride is the fastest route.

We often ride our bikes from Surf Beach along the bike track. When traffic is heavy during peak season a bike ride is the fastest route.
This hike offers the most spectacular views on island. From the Cape Woolamia Beach car park turn left on the beach and walk about 1km to the set of stairs. From the top there are a few walks to choose from; ranging in time between one and a half to two and a half hours. It is so worth the time and effort! During whale season you may even spot a whale or two. From the bench near the top of the stairs you can also watch the Shearwater birds come in just after dusk between October and April. Such amazing sea birds!

The BoulevardThis hike offers the most spectacular views on island. From the Cape Woolamia Beach car park turn left on the beach and walk about 1km to the set of stairs. From the top there are a few walks to choose from; ranging in time between one and a half to two and a half hours. It is so worth the time and effort! During whale season you may even spot a whale or two. From the bench near the top of the stairs you can also watch the Shearwater birds come in just after dusk between October and April. Such amazing sea birds!
Another stunning walk starts at the end of the Punchbowl in San Remo. I recommend you bring plenty of water and don't start out on a very hot day. This trail will take you all the way to Kilkunda and beyond if you are up for it. We like to drop a car off at the Kilkunda Pub and have a meal and a drink when we finish or at bite to eat at the Kilkunda General Store. You can always do a portion of the walk if you are not up for a long hike. When my children were young we used to hike to Half Moon Bay and back. The beach is stunning, but not a safe beach for swimming. During the summer months avoid the temptation of walking into the tall grass for a photo (as my overseas visitor kept doing until I informed him about Aussie snakes).

At Surf Beach you are allowed to bring your dogs onto the beach on lead before 10 am and after 5 pm. During the quieter months the rules are a bit more relaxed. I even saw a lamb on the beach one day. Check out the photo!

This is a great, easy walk for the whole family. My kids used to love this walk when they were little. Stop on the way to the Nobbies since it it on your way. Bring your binoculars if you have any to get a good look at the local bird life.
