Sightseeing
The Ventura peer is a 4 minute walk from the house. You can get there over the footbridge. Feel free to take bikes on the boardwalk or go fishing on the peer. There is a playground for the kids and the beach is a friendly place for walking dogs.

Food scene
My new favorites are the Jolly Oyster on the beach, Barrell 33 for wine and snacks and Paradis Pantry for brunch!
1oo feet away on Thompson this little wine bar is tucked out of sight and is only open 3 nights a week (and doesn't allow kids). Parfait is the owner and samalier. Let him know we said hi. Sometimes my husband and I will have the kids watch a movie and stroll over to get a glass of wine.

Right across the street is Transmission brewing. With toppers pizza connected this is a great place to bring the family for pizza while enjoying the local brews! We take the kids here because they love the food and my husband loves the choices of beer. I love that it's in a village of artists shops.

This is right Next door to Toppers pizza but has a beautiful breakfast menu. The food is great and it's really easy to get in and out, plus I love the bright airy atmoshere.

This place is right on Main st near the most popular thrift shops and is my favorite breakfast place. Great breakfast burritos and omelets but is only open for breakfast and lunch so get their early!

Excellent battered fish tacos with a view of the water. They have an inside but most people eat outside. Most weekdays they have happy hour between 3-5 pm, which is a great deal and you can feed the whole family on a crazy budget.

This is an open-air oyster experience on the beach! Talk a walk south along the shore and find a great spot for beer, oysters and food. It's all outside and you can bring your dog. I adore this place because of the great oysters and the very relaxing vibe.

Excellent brunch amazing food! I took my girl's weekend here for Sunday brunch and it was a smashing success. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and an incredible wine and cheese store right next door.
