Excellent food in the cafe', coffee, local crafts and more! Must stop if you drive through Villa Grove. Went there the other day and had the best burger, can't even get one in Denver this good! If you're early enough, you can get the BEST donuts and homemade bread there!

Visitor center is now open every Friday and Saturday from 8am-2pm. Absolutely worth a stop while you're in the area! Refuge management asks that due to prairie dog activity in nearby habitat, follow the 15 mph speed limit while driving on the gravel road that is between the visitor center and County Road T.

One of my favorite places to visit, the owners at the pool make sure everyone has an amazing time. Two great restaurants, gift shop, adult-only "greenhouse" with a bar and several soaking pools and of course plenty of space for families and friends.

Just up the road from the Great Sand Dunes NP, Zapata Ranch is the largest preservation area managed by The Nature Conservancy in Colorado. Check out the website for available activities. It's amazing!

Also located near the museum are 3 incredible State Wildlife areas with walking paths along the Rio Grand River. If you head north along 3E (or called by the locals as the Soldiers Home road) look for the signs. You'll be glad you stopped!

This small historic mining town is a must-see! Tour the underground mining museum and drive the loop to see the mines. Wonderful restaurants, art galleries, and more! And the drive along the Rio Grande river is amazing! Just over 90 minutes to get there and completely worth it.

Trailhead is actually just outside of Crestone, not Westcliffe.
Take your binoculars! Easy hike to the top of the hill and spectacular views! 4x4 is best as the road is rough but you're able to park close and still make the walk.
