Deglio Faraldi is a small village at the top of the olive valley in Villa Faraldi. A small hamlet in the Ligurian hinterland surrounded by olive trees. In its small square shaded by ancient palm trees, stands the Parish Church of San Bernardo. The original medieval church dates back to before 1600. In the first half of the 1700s the old church was demolished and the current building was built on its foundations, again dedicated to the cult of San Bernardo. The church is very large, decorated with very brightly colored stuccoes. Its luminosity invites more to festive events than to the intimate recollection of prayer. In 1748 it was equipped with a new bell that we can still admire today. From the same period was the painting of the Via Crucis depicting the fourteen stations of penance which was stolen during the night twenty years ago. The altar inside is signed by the famous marble worker Agostino De Ferrari. We remember the fresco illustrating the apparition of the Madonna in San Bernardo and the splendid organ built in 1880. Despite the violent earthquake of 1887 that devastated the western Ligurian, the church did not suffer the slightest damage. A good opportunity to visit these parts is the tasting of the typical "Taggiasco" olive oil, sold in the numerous oil mills in the area. The village has a famous seafood restaurant Ai Torki just 5 minutes walking distance from Casa Annette, but grocery shopping must be done in San Bartolomeo al Mare, which is 10 minutes by car from Deglio.

Sightseeing

In addition to the beatiful Riviera dei Fiori, it is several villages you must visit while you are staying in Casa Annette, two nice ones is Cervo and Dolcedo. Here is a nice guide for visiting Liguria and the neighbourhood of Casa Annette: https://www.italythisway.com/regions/liguria.php
The lovely village Dolcedo is a small historic village in the Imperia region and is just 30 minutes driving from Casa Annette. One can wander the very old roads through the village and cross the old Roman bridges. A small stream runs through town. It was used in the past to run the olive oil mills. The church San Tomaso is a real treasure; absolutely beautiful inside with its ornamental decoration in gold and ultra marin blue. There are many small shops and restaurants in town. A great place to visit on an afternoon. The boroughs of Dolcedo appeared in the early Middle Ages, populated by refugees from the Ligurian coast. Later it was a fief of the Clavesana family. In the 12th century cultivation of olive became a mainstay of the area. In 1228 the Clavesana ceded their lands to the commune of Genoa.
