Situated within the royal hotel in the town centre-cafe/ bar offering breakfasts, lunches, dinners and a fantastic drinks menu!lbeautiful view looking onto the Lewis castle.

The Crown hotel based across the road from the apartment boasts a lovely spacious restaurant area with scenic views across the harbour, looking onto the castle and its grounds. It has a delicious pizza menu and also traditional dishes with locally sourced ingredients (where possible) . We love this restaurant as it has both indian and traditional dishes so mum and dad can enjoy a curry and the kids can still have their usual chicken nuggets/burgers etc if they aren't keen on spicy food. very relaxed, family friendly atmosphere but also serves alcoholic drinks and cocktails so ideal for groups or couples too.

lovely little sit in/takeaway coffee shop overlooking the castle. our kids say the kinder beauno hot chocolate is the best ever and they also do a great cappuccino!

Softplay area for children aged 0-12 years, under 3s area and large softplay over 3 levels for the older children.. oh and coffe and cake for the grown ups! they also serve hot food available for sit in or takeaway. Advisable to phone to reserve a table/check availability if going in the school holidays.. especially if its raining!

Fantastic large play area situated in the north of the island (approx 40 minute car journey from stornoway) set on 4 acres of natural machair (grassland) on the borders of a beautiful sandy beach. Perfect day out for all ages! theres also a lovely restaurant down by the pier, afew minutes drive away called "Breakwater", booking advisable.

Aline community woodlands and playpark is the perfect stop off between Lewis and Harris or a morning or afternoon out! a lovely scenic walkway with picnic benches along the way. There is also a great playpark for the kiddies situated in the trees!

Newmarket playpark and walk.. playpark over a large area- suitable for all ages. perfect place for afternoon out and a wee picnic! there is also a new community walkway through the machair and round the village of tong which is about 6k. Its home to some local wildlife which you will most probably meet.. deer and stags!
