Lake Johnson Park comprises more than 300 acres of land surrounding the 150-acre lake. The lake offers boat rentals (jonboats, paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, sailboats, SUPs) and personal boat launches (non-motorized, non-trailered boats). The park also boats picnic shelters, concessions, facility rentals and Capital Area Greenway access, as well as an array of classes and recreational opportunities for the entire family. The lake is great for fishing of largemouth bass, shell cracker, crappie, bream, catfish and carp. Free admission; fee for boat launches and facility rentals. The facility is open daily, sunrise-sunset (closed Mon., Oct.-March).

Duke School of Medicine offers an MD program, a Doctor of Physical Therapy program, 5 master’s degrees, and 16 PhD programs, in addition to programs for physicians’ assistants and pathologists’ assistants. Of the ~500 Duke MD students, about 17% enroll in the Medical Science Training Program (MSTP), which leads to a combined MD and PhD, and about 40% total graduate with a second degree of some kind.
