Oleggio is a quiet town, 15000 people in a small center and big territory. It has a rural tradition; there used to be the biggest cattle market of the area, therefore it was a pretty rich town. There is a big church of course, a nice square and an old IX century church worth visiting.

The river flows from Lago Maggiore through the territory of Oleggio. it's a great place in hot summer afternoons; you can take walks and see the canals that take water from here and reach as far as Milano. The marble and stones used to build Milan's Duomo were transported from the mountains by the Lake all the way on the river and on the canals.
