Discovering Salento, among sea, nature and Baroque architecture

If you are staying in our villa you can't miss the so-called "Capital of Salento": the wonderful city of Lecce.. The distance is about 47km from Casarano and can be reached by car in about 30/40 minutes. Once in Lecce the obligatory stages are doubtless the following:
- the Basilica of Santa Croce;
- the Amphitheatre and Roman Theatre;
- Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta;
- Castle of Carlo V;
- Abbey of Santa Maria di Cerrate;
There are many other things to visit but if you want to reconcile the discovery of new places to a beautiful day at the sea my advice is not to delay too much in reaching the beaches nearby!

Lecce

- the Cathedral of Santa Maria Annunziata with inside the beautiful crypt;
- the Aragonese castle;
- I recommend a relaxing walk in the beautiful old town;
- the Bauxite quarry which is an absolutely unusual landscape;
- Punta Palascia where from the terrace of the lighthouse you can enjoy a spectacular view, consisting of the lighthouse that stands out in the middle of the rocks and overlooks the endless crystal expanse of the sea, where the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea meet.

Otranto
Otranto is another must see if you come to Salento. It is full of places that tell the story of a population starting from many years ago.. but I don't want to anticipate anything. What I think is really worth seeing in Otranto is:

Galatina
Galatina is a small town in the heart of Salento, it is not among the most known but I recommend you take a tour because it hides the unprecedented beauty. If you are here you absolutely must visit the Basilica of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria; also don't miss the beautiful old town and the Chiesa Madre di San Pietro e Paolo.
Santa Maria di Leuca reserves, in my opinion, the most beautiful landscapes of Salento; starting from the sunsets that can be accompanied by a drink reaching Punta Ristola, at dawn that can be seen a few kilometers away reaching the Località Ciolo.
If you are in Leuca I recommend renting a boat or a dinghy to visit the Ionian and Adriatic Coasts that preserve the breathtaking caves.

It is a historic restaurant and pizzeria. The owners have years of experience and the thing that drives me to return and to recommend this place to my guests is that, in addition to professionalism, they offer all first choice products, fresh and in season. It is also a good compromise for those who don't want a pasta or a second, as they make really good pizzas!!

Church of Saint Mary of the Crucifix
Via CasaranelloKnown for its beautiful mosaics, the Church of S. Maria della Croce, also known as the Church of "Casaranello", is one of the oldest monuments in Puglia.
It is located a few kilometers from our accommodation and I recommend you not to miss it!
This path is a must! If you can wake up early in the morning you can walk through it as the sun rises and it is something that will leave you speechless. Once you finish the path going down towards the sea you will find yourself in front of the caves that offer beautiful views.
