Split is an open air musem where each gate, stone, arch and house tells it’s own story. Its historic centre is situated inside a Roman palace, but isn’t just a pretty seaside attraction: Diocletian’s Palace is a fully-functional high street, home to Split’s leading commercial outlets and the thumping heart of the city’s restaurant and nightlife scenes. Designed to house the noble Emperor Diocletian, and the shackled serfs that served him, the Palace’s shell is spectacularly well-preserved for a Roman ruin, abandoned for several centuries after its construction and the fall of the empire. In the 7th century AD, local refugees fleeing a Croat invasion carved out a life in the trestles and alcoves of the abandoned palace, and it’s been in use ever since. While in Split, act Like in Split: Dalmatians spend an incredibly long time drinking coffee in the sun. Coffee culture is sacrosanct in Dalmatia, and a coffee here doesn’t just mean a quick cup of joe, it’s at least a couple of hours’, or even an entire afternoon’s, commitment. It’s a tradition Croatians treat with a reverence that borderlines on holy. Embrace it. Spend a non-strenuous afternoon sipping frothy kava on a sun-drenched terrace, watching pedestrians threading through Split’s narrow cobbled streets, and acclimatise to the lazier, laid-back Dalmatian pace of life

National Park

One of the prettiest locations nearby to discover is the Krka National Park where you can enjoy calming nature and breathtaking sceneries. Once you reach the biggest waterfall called Skradinski Buk, you will realize the power, the energy and the force of the nature and water cascades. Skradinski Buk is the longest travertine barrier on the Krka river. All along the waterfall there are plenty of wooden bridges and forest paths leading you to fabulous and unforgettable waterfall perspectives… This circular trail around the waterfalls is about 2 kilometers long and it takes about an hour and a half to cross it. It includes enough time to learn some facts about the natural, cultural and historical heritage through educational panels provided along the trail. The ethno-collection, the remains of the Krka hydropower plant, the weaving workshop, the old mill… are just couple of things which will take you to ancient times… priceless! In the nearby area you can find family farms offering indigenous products like homemade prosciutto and cheese and local wine tasting. For those who want find refreshement during the warm summer days, we suggest visiting picturesque village Primošten which offers nice beach and crystal clear sea. If you have any question, feel free to ask :)
