Right in the heart of the Camargue, this fishing town with white houses is the pilgrimage centre for gypsies. The Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer church, built in the 12th century and fortified in the 15th century, really looks like a fortress. In the summer, the seaside resort of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer comes alive with its beaches, its cafés, its shops and its restaurants offering the Camargue specialities, such as gardiane (bull stew) and telline, a type of small clam.

The festival showcases images from renowned and up and coming photographers that often have never been seen by the public before in some of the most amazing buildings in Arles, ones that are usually closed to the public.
It usually runs from July 1st to September.

La Roquette is one of the oldest residential areas in Arles, full of small streets that are full of charm and character. People often leave their doors open and there's a real feeling of community.
There's lot's of small shops, cafe's, theatre and a museum so well worth losing yourself there for a couple of hours.
