STEEPED IN HISTORY
Built by the order of King Henry VIII it is one of the finest Tudor artillery castles in England, and among the earliest and most elaborate of a chain of coastal forts, which also includes Calshot, Camber, Walmer and Pendennis Castles. Today you can explore the whole of the castle, from the storerooms to the first-floor captain’s residence. Take a walk around the defences and admire the squat, rounded bastions and cannons.

This is a fantastic place to visit, crammed with a great deal of local, insightful history. There are lots of interactive touch points around the museum and if you're on time, you'll still be able to see the timeball in use!

Kent MOMI is a not-for-profit museum that explores the deep history of the moving and projected image — from the days of candle-lit magic lantern performances and hand-painted slides, through Victorian visual experimentation, to the advent and the heyday of the cinema. The museum is situated in the heart of the picturesque Kent seaside town of Deal, two minutes' walk from Deal Railway Station and Deal Pier and Seafront. We believe in community and access. All our exhibitions are changing "special" exhibitions — so there will always be something new to see.

Right on the edge of town, this community project is a charming destination for a stroll along the seafront. A lot of hard work by volunteers has made this a very pleasant place to take a seat and just breathe in the sea air.

There's a bit in the middle with the usual modern High St shops but all around this town are fascinating side streets with cafes, shops and galleries.
The rail links from London St Pancras is excellent with the new bullet trains taking 1.2 hours
