Food Scene

Just steps from our vacation home, to call the Warren Tavern just another restaurant is a disservice! Dating to 1780, history dines at the Warren Tavern with the likes of George Washington & Paul Revere plotting the future of America here while enjoying a pint (and burger)! You can feel the history inside, and maybe a cold draft that makes you think George Washington's ghost, but then you shake it off and remember that everyone in here are friends! It's a local spot so Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights are usually busy and loud (with trivia and live music occupying quieter nights), but when the Patriots take the field on Sunday's in the fall, the Warren Tavern is the go-to establishment!

Just around the corner from our home, Figs is a great neighborhood restaurant that serves up awesome nuevo-Italian cuisine! The pizza is very unique here and is made in a Mediterranean style that is flavorful! A cozy space that is great for a solo dinner or date night, the roaring open-faced wood-burning brick oven is exceptional and adds a romantic glow to the establishment! The menu here is very good, the wine selection is better, and the ambiance feels very European (Parisian specifically)! We definitely recommend a night here for our guests!

Charlestown's newest beer garden, the love child of Michael Cooney & Chef John Paine, this spot is vibrant, energetic, alive, and brings the party to Charlestown! It's pretty consistently packed, but the nights that are less busy are our personal favorites because you can really appreciate the nice beer and wine selection they have! With wood-fired meatballs, kimchi-slathered pork belly, and pizzas studded with smoked meats from Moody’s Delicatessen, Brewer’s Fork creates some takes on American tavern eats! Maybe a 7-minute walk from our home, this place deserves a visit if possible!

Maybe a 3-minute walk from our home, Legal Oysteria is one of Charlestown's best seafood restaurants from the Legal Seafood's chain! Mediterranean-influenced cuisine, Legal Oysteria serves up very good food and sets the mood right with a romantic setting that mixes low-lights with high-spirits! On the pricier side, if it's seafood you want, well, this is your local spot! Very good weekend brunch too, but busy!

So, the debate around town is who serves up the best slice in town! And in the esteemed and professional opinion of these pizza-eating hosts, we are Team Regina Pizzeria all-day, everyday! (But if you do like 2nd Place pizza, the other place is Santarpios in East Boston who - for the record - makes a very good 2nd Place pie!) Around since 1926, Regina Pizzeria is "Boston's Original Pizzeria!" Here, you can expect a no-frills staff with thick Bawstan accents! Basically, your server will ask if you need anything else while walking away but don't take it personally, it's just Boston! And the pizza is worth it! Definitely go!

This little local gem gets 6 out of 5 stars! Family-owned and operated since 1926, Bova's Bakery is the premier bakery of Boston's North End! Everyone says Mike's or Modern, but we say Bova's! Parks & Nature

Established in 1634, Boston Common is America’s OLDEST public park! Colonists purchased the land rights to the Common’s 44 acres for 30 pounds. The pasture then became known as the "Common Land" and was used to graze local livestock until 1830. Whether it's a summer picnic in the grass or winter ice-skating on Frog Pond, Boston's oldest public park is the perfect escape from the bustle of the city.

USS Constitution a.k.a. Old Ironsides is a wood-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate in the United States Navy named by America's very first President himself, President George Washington! The Massachusetts State House was completed in 1798, and is widely acclaimed as one of the more magnificent public buildings in the country. The land for the State House was originally used as John Hancock’s cow pasture. Its most distinct feature, the golden dome, was once made of wood, but was later overlaid with copper by Paul Revere. It was covered with 23-karat gold leaf for the first time in 1874 and was painted grey during World War II to protect the city from bombing attacks. The State House dome was most recently gilded in 1997. FREE turs are available Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
