In your hood - walkable spots

For when you don't want to go for more than 10 steps away from the apartment, but would still love some delicious restaurant food and a great laidback vibe. It can't get any more local than the crowd at this restaurant. This is where we meet up with our neighbors! The food offering is interesting and diverse enough to meet every need of your party.

This is the only rival to Tomoe sushi (my ultimate sushi spot in Manhattan, if I don't want to spend $$$ on omakase) on the other side of the Hudson River. They give you a very generous portion that will fill your mouth with fresh and high-quality fish. Keep in mind that they close on Tuesdays though.

My alternative to go spot if I eat too much Okinawa and would love some interesting roll options ie truffle scallop roll.

Good selection of Malaysian and Thai food. The Hainanese chicken here, in my humble opinion, is more flavorful than the famous Eim Khao Mun Kai chicken in Queens. I rarely order tom yum anywhere else, but always order the seafood tom yum here every time I order from this restaurant.

No longer have to trek all the way to Brooklyn for a hipster vibe coffee shop. Good and quick options for lunch/brunch. Very friendly couple owner. I usually bring my laptop here to grab lunch and work in the afternoon.

Somehow the thumbnail photo isn't what this coffee shop is looking like as of today (probably an old photo as this coffee shop is newly renovated as far as I know). Anyway, super cute spot that would belong right to West village :) They even have a play area for kids at the back.

So happy that an Asian bakery is finally in town. You can find here the same selection of asian pastry that you would find in Chinatown in Manhattan. Their mango mousse tart is especially good!

Open spaces, a beautiful garden, and step-music toy for kids. A nice clean green area for you and your family to chill. If you are lucky, you may run into a live concert (rumor has it that it's on Mondays).

Neighborhoods

Though it is small, Hoboken is mighty. When you’re traveling out of state and people ask you where you live, there is a very good chance that they will have heard of Hoboken in some capacity (ahem, hello birthplace of Sinatra, the Oreo, baseball, and more) and for good reason. Hoboken is a small town with a big personality and a very rich history. Whether you’re moving to the Mile Square, moving out of it, or just visiting, here is a must-do Hoboken bucket list to get the most out of what our city has to offer.

Parks at the Pier – From Pier A to Harborside Park, there are a ton of parks for your children (fur or human). A personal favorite that our architecture hearts were crushing on is this urban escape at Pier C designed by a Harvard graduate. Once you tire out your little one, watch the ferries, kayaks, and summertime sailers float across the Hudson River.

Take a walk along the water from Pier A all the way to Pier 13 meandering through the parks and gazing at the killer skyline view that you really just can’t get enough of. If you’re in town on a Wednesday night in the summer, check out Move Under the Stars at Pier A.

I used to trek all the way to their only location in Upper West Side and wait in line for their chocolate chip cookies. Now good thing that their stores are all around the city with much shorter lines. I don't like cookies per se but their cookies are so gooey and rich that they almost taste like a pastry themselves.
