Wild animals are in abundance here. While most will see you and leave the area before you are even aware they are there, you may encounter bear, moose, deer or other creatures. While beautiful to look at, they can be dangerous if frightened or threatened. The best way to avoid this is to whistle, sing or make other sounds to warn them of your presence. They will usually leave you alone if you do not take them by surprise. Please respect the animals and their habitats. We are all guests in their homes when we are in the woods, on the mountains or in waterways.

Vermonters are very proud and protective of the natural landscape. The culture here is to bring in what you need to use and take everything you brought in - including trash - back out with you. In addition, you should not take anything you find in nature out of the area. We abide by the saying, "Take only pictures, leave only footprints."
